You know..they first came out in the late 70's early 80's. Who would have thought that a blip on the screen would entertain us all? I was like 10 when we first got one..boy, its pretty lame compared to todays video games.

I was a teenager in the 70's, then raising the four kids in the 80's. I bought ALL the games to go with it all when I got the 2600 machine, then the 5200. I still have em. Then I got 3 nintendo's, one sega saturn, and two super nintendo's...all with all games I could get. I love Mario's! I still have all of them, and some in original boxes. We got cleaners, code breakers (?), extra controllers that did cool stuff. I never care what I get, I love it. I play it all still. Oh yeah, and I have two handheld nintendo's from 1990's (can't remember what all of them are called), and some extra kinds of handhelds that are generic brands. I love games. Now I have a Wii!!! so cool....I remember the 5200 as being my favorite. TETRIS!

Activision was a company that made games for the early atari system and there was one highly addictive game from them called Megamania.

Atari 2600?
Ha!
That was one of the greatest UPGRADES ever!
Going from PONG to the Atari 2600 was light-years in technological advancement. I waited for YEARS to get one.
But in the meantime, I had PONG. And PONG was awesome! We gave up sleep, eating, and hydration to make those paddles hit that square ball across that 19-inch TV screen! It was WAY more exciting than those 3 TV stations we got!

I loved, I remember my mom bought it for me and the first day the whole family we were playing until 3 am, it was awesome for me at that time to go to sleep so late, my favorite game was the one with the Olympic games or something like that.

I still have my old Atari that mom bought me when I was around 6 (1981). I have all of the controllers and about 200 games as well. I hardly ever play it but it's definitely a conversation starter. lol

I do indeed remember the old-school Atari systems... And it's always amusing to me to still see the Atari branding on computer/console games that come out today. I guess name brand recognition is always worth *something*...

Atari was so cool. Whoever owned one was so lucky. I had to play with my cousins. Now all the games fit on a chip the size of a dime.
Go figure. But I like the simple games !

I still have the 2600 (Don't know it is still works) and the 7800 that does work. Plus I have a bunch of games as well. The controlers however have either bad cords or bad buttons.

Missle Command was our #1 game. I played that game one day for over four hours rolling the score over and over again. Asteriods was another game I could play non-stop and continually roll-over the score. Space Invaders was another popular game in our family. We have two raceing games - Pole Position and Pole Position for 7800. Donkee Kong was OK. Miss Pac Man is another one we have.

I remember my dad spending $100 on Space Invaders, and $90 on Pac-Man.I got 3M points on Video Pinball, and 4M on Defender. What a waste of time.

My 4 kids and I still love to play Outlaw, with the 2 cowboys shooting each other.

We still have a 2600 somewhere too. I'd like to play it again. You can't beat classics like Warlords (although Adventure was pretty annoying).

My parents still have ours with all the games from Asteroids to space invaders. We thought it would be cool to hook it up for our 5 year old son and let him see what th video games from our time were like. He lasted maybe 5 minutes and was back on the ps2.

Remember Circus Atari? Terrific in building hand-eye coordination! I purchased one of those single paddle retro Atari games you hook up to the TV. It appears I'm less coordinated now! Too bad they don't have them available for 2 players.
