If the car manufacturers gave me a free hybrid vehicle, I would start to have the savings immediately. Can't afford to spend $25,000 for a new technology hybrid vehicle at the moment, only to see the savings in a few years. By then, newer, more efficient vehicles would be available, probably for the same price.

gptrk, you should've dumped the Saturn SUV and bought a KIA Optima. It's not a hybrid, so it costs you a lot less and on the open road, it will best your 33 MPG by getting almost 40 MPG.

Need some local natural gas stations and in Illinois all over the state! If Chrysler sells a pick up truck in July that uses gasoline or natural gas don't they have to supply natural gas? I understand the dealer sells natural gas in St. Louis for their Honda Civic GX which gets up to 38 mpg.

Prices are going to have to come down quite a bit before I will consider one. Most of the people that I have talked to who have bought one, did so because it will "help save the planet".

They have to keep pumping and hyping that which is unsuccessful, uneconomical, unreliable, and / or unproven.

Why can't the Americans get a tax break our electric bills for plugging in our electric cars?

Record for this segment ONLY. Still low sales due to cost, reliability, range and charge times.

Just wait until they start needing repairs. All the money you save in gas goes to the purchase of the car and future repairs.

I do not understand why hybrids still need subsidies to be afforsable. If they cannot be mass produced economically by now then maybe they have no role.

I wonder what these hybrids resale value will hold? I never buy a new car. Sooner or later these things will be on every used car lot.

We have two hybrids. The Prius has given as high as 53 MPG and the loaded down Saturn SUV hybrid has recorded over 33 MPG on cross country trips. Can't complain and whatever floats your boat, as they say.

The ones doing the mooching are the ones driving the gas hogs who are pushing up gas prices for everyone else. They're demanding sacrifice from everyone else while not doing the same for themselves much less actually serving in a military that was ordered to fight war designed to secure our oil supplies (Iraq).

Drop the subsidies on these cars and sales will plummet. Greedy greenies need to pay for their own cars and quit mooching off of others.

Hybrid and electric cars see record sales in March as gas prices rise, new models arrive? Inbred and EV's are too high priced for me. With the high price of purchasing a new EV or Inbred, I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, very high MPG, concept or anything else. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Just think what the sales would be if they had a REAL vehicle not using batteries but a reliable, efficient and cost effect like Natural Gas and Hydrogen Alternative Fuel Cell vehicles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
